Oscar Chari is a Dual Diagnosis (mental health and substance misuse) Clinical Nurse Consultant. Oscar is both a credentialed mental health nurse and a credentialed drug and alcohol nurse. He has over 17 years post registration nursing experience. Oscar trained and worked in the UK for 10 years and has been working in Australia for the past 7 years. He has been involved in providing direct clinical care to complex dual diagnosis clients including assessment; diagnosis; input into treatment planning and promoting the application of evidence-based care. Some of Oscar's work has included managing a dual diagnosis strategy to develop and implement and improve dual diagnosis services in both the private and public sectors. Through consultation, modelling, training and supervision, Oscar has supported mental health clinicians to develop skills in the care and treatment of individuals with co-morbid mental health and substance misuse problems.
Apart from working in private practice, Oscar works for Queensland Health’s Forensic and Secure Services as a Dual Diagnosis Coordinator/ Clinical Nurse Consultant.
Oscar is in his final year of the Nurse Practitioner Master’s Degree at Flinders University.
